OpenIDEO Groups v2

@ OpenIDEO, IDEO
TIMELINE:   2 months
COMPLETED:   2018
MY ROLE:   As the product manager on this project, I led a team of 3 that involved 1 UX designer and 2 software engineers. I conducted the design sprints, dev planning, and final user testing sessions.
Project Overview

In 2017, OpenIDEO launched the alpha version of Groups to support our mission of building communities for social good. The OpenIDEO Groups application enabled organizers from around the world to build local communities of social innovators via dedicated online spaces and in-person events. I came on board to lead the development of beta features.

While the initial alpha release focused on participant engagement, the beta release prioritized building tools to support volunteer Chapter Organizers at the forefront of sustaining the growth of OpenIDEO Groups.

Project Snapshots:
The Resources feature improved file sharing between Chapter organizers and followers by consolidating toolkits and onboarding materials into a central page.
Pinned announcements enhanced Chapter Organizers’ ability to broadcast call-to-actions to all followers. The feature enabled Organizers to deliver announcements as email notifications.
Chapter events were integrated into Chapter feeds for improved discoverability.
Notification preferences enabled followers to selectively opt into updates based on frequency, group topic, and content type.
